Interesting, I've not touched SharePoint much in many years, what kind of file auditing is available now? Despite several warnings we still have users that like to dump large binary files on a share and then forget about them lol We also went one step further by creating a new SharePoint intranet sites as a hub site and associated all the above created sites to the intranet hub-site with a SharePoint page that has links to all departmental SharePoint sites for easy navigation. Staff can then access their files through Teams or the SharePoint Site and also made available on their desktop using OneDrive Sync facility How we did was, we created a Microsoft Teams Team for each department which comes with its own SharePoint site, migrated the respective department's files/folders to that SharePoint site using SharePoint migration tool from the local server. Plus, if you already have O365 licenses, it costs nothing and you will be saving a considerable amount of $$ compared to Azure or Egnyte As many mentioned here, SharePoint method is way effective than most people think it is.
